Ed,

I love the Shot Gun/Rifle analogy! I think it is spot on and I think my new sales team recruiting motto is going to be, "Wanna take a SHOT at Sales?"....

Thanks for jumping in on the conversation,

Beth,

My MBA adviser likened marketing to a shotgun and sales to a rifle. Marketing is geared towards the masses, while sales is a one-to-one event (usually).

we had many ahhhhhaaa moments in 2011 as this was our first year in business.
Consistancy, Consistancy, Consistancy is one main point of our business.
Our partons appreciate there being the same set of playing rules for EVERYONE without exception.
We always explain about our being fair and consistant with everyone as our focus...it is really appreciated by all. Not one experience comes to light when thinking about 2011 because all of them offered a unique learning experiance. We are looking to continue to build our business coming into year 2 in 2012.

This is an e-mail I got from my good friend, Randy Isenberg. Thank you, Randy, for always sending such great e-mails AND for reading our newsletter week after week!

In the late 1970's'and early 1980's---BUSINESS LEADERS were encouraged to
SUPPORT the "DO IT----TRY IT----FIX IT" method to ACHIEVEMENT.

THE FIX-IT statement implies that initial efforts may not work flawlessly and either need adjustment or even to be SHELVED. (Admitting that the concept or idea lacked commercial merit to begin with---and failed by design----NOT BY FAILURE to implement)

IN MAJOR SPORTING events and LIVE CONCERTS, PERFORMANCES, and other settings in which INDIVIDUALS and TEAMS work in FRONT OF LARGE AUDIENCES----Expose Themselves to Open Criticism as well as Applause.

How would you feel if in your day to day life, everytime you made a mistake--a BIG FLASHING RED LIGHT Signaled your FAILURE (the HOCKEY GOALIE))) or YELLOW FLAGS ARE THROWN, or you Miss a FIELD GOAL, or LET A GROUND go between your legs COSTING YOUR TEAM a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, or throw an interception, or fumble the ball, or miss a tackle

Or miss the five pin when making the spare is the difference between winning and losing(even if only 10 people are watching).

(One of my favorite TV advertisements is the scene in a restaurant in which a DINER is CHOKING, one person at the table is explaining how to STOP the CHOKING, and another person gets up and DOES IT--relieves the CHOKING patron from his distress and then sits down. THE PERSON who was EXPLAINING HOW TO makes the stupid STATEMENT---

"SEE. JUST LIKE I TOLD YOU."

BETH is the Professional TEACHER and her newsletter is a MUST READ.

So after sleeping through my introduction---READ, BETH's'. NEWSLETTER and GO OUT and TAKE ACTION--
